This WILL Hurt When It Hits

---

I love toys. Always have, and you may have read the reason why. Hence, sometimes when I have the means, I'll indulge in this childhood past-time, just for the sake of it. Maybe I'll get a robot. Maybe an action figure. Or a scale model.

Or a gun that can rain pain on unsuspecting bystanders.

A few months back I walked into Toys'R'Us at KLCC and stumbled upon the NERF section. I was always impressed with their guns when I was younger, but I've never purchased any of them. So I browsed around. Then I stumbled upon this:

Nerf Longshot CS-6, also known as 'How To Annoy People and Animals With Foam Darts'

That's a fakking sniper rifle. How come they never had these when I was younger? It's even based on an actual sniper rifle. Argh.

Anyway, it was priced at what I thought was a steal for such a toy. So of course I bought it, and proceeded to wreak havoc on various targets at home, including cats, lizards, static objects and my mom, who was watching the television.

Mom was not amused at being shot at

But despite the obvious fun of doing target practice, there was this faint unsatisfying feeling. Sure, in the right conditions, the darts flew the claimed 30 feet or so. But the darts were foam. When they hit, it felt like... well, nothing.

So it was an awesome looking rifle (which will be awesome-er when I paint it matt black) but it couldn't bring the pain.

Fast forward to now. I have this:

Ingram MAC 11. No relation to James Ingram, nor to Apple Macintosh

A MAC 11. Not the real one (unfortunately) but as damn close to it as possible. It's a Tokyo Marui electric powered BB gun. And according to a 'test subject', this one brings the pain.

Box text translation: GOOD FIRE BANG BANG HURT BALLS BIG PAIN

It has blowback, which makes it feel like a real gun. It can fire on full-auto or semi-auto. It's range is 25 meters. It runs on AAA batteries, and it fires those plastic BB pellets.

Extra bag of pellets and batteries. Energizer FTW!

This will punch holes through paper and cardboard. It'll blind you and leave painful, stinging welts on your skin.

I love it.

Ignore the fact I have hairy fore-arms

Legality? Well apparently, as long as it's not a full scale model (mine is 3/4 scale), and you don't take it out of the house or anything, then it's fine.

My balcony at the upper floor living area overlooks the pedestrian walkway. I've never liked the way kids cycle noisily in the evenings, or those bunch of Indon maids loitering at the corner....

Expect to see more of these around the house
